Congratulations Kennels Open Weekend Scallywags Staff Adverts Our intrepid reporter: Fiona Moving On
Sadly Kerry has left us and has moved to Aberdeen. Her
fiancé Andy's work has taken them there. They will be
coming home to get married next July. She is keeping
her hand in though and has already been recruited at
her local riding school to teach agility to the clients
and their dogs and has had one or two problem dogs sent
her way. Consequently Sally has given up all hope of
an early retirement and is keeping the Scallywags office
running smoothly ably assisted by her 7 month old
granddaughter Megan and Megan's mum Natalie.
Russ and Sally are
available by appointment for one to one lessons or help
with behaviour problems. In addition both are always
happy to give advice on any aspect of dog training and
behaviour. Unlike other behaviour counsellors we have
the facilities and the commitment to see clients for
training and counselling on a regular weekly basis
until the problem is resolved.
This years most popular new venture is the puppy romp
on Saturday mornings. An excellent socialising opportunity
for dogs and their families. For the dogs, interaction and
play with other pups and carefully selected adult dogs and
for the owners a chance to compare notes on puppy rearing
and watch some wonderful dog-to-dog conversations.
Where appropriate, dogs and owners that are attending regularly
will be encouraged to work together in a supervised group where
they can help each other. Current groups running are the Rehab
group for dog to dog problems and the Recall group.
Clare and Fiona have both passed their assessments this year to
join the rest of us as members of the Association of Pet Dog
Trainers. Clare has recently bought a boarding kennels in
Yorkshire which will provide an excellent stop over on the
way to Aberdeen to visit Kerry!
Perhaps the most exciting news is that early next year Gill
(a Scallywags instructor) will be opening her boarding kennels.
Here at Scallywags we are often asked to recommend a kennels
but we can only pass on other clients recommendations, not
having used them ourselves (too many dogs - can't afford
holidays - up until now that is!!! Thank you Gill).
Please come and join us for coffee and mince pies at head
office in Shedfield. The shop will be open for dog food,
toys and accessories. An ideal opportunity to buy your dog's
Christmas presents. You can give your dog a run in the field
and have a chat with an instructor if you wish. On Sunday you
can watch the agility classes. Both days - call in at anytime
between 10 am and 4 pm.
Scallywags classes in Portsmouth and Oxford are now run independently. Please contact. Steve Batten 01329 282201 for Portsmouth classes Jeff Walton 01865 768991 for classes and Behaviour in the Oxford area.
