Agility news Kyla's Summer thoughts Adverts Our intrepid reporter: Fiona And then there were eight ...
As most of you will now be aware, Kerry has left us and moved
just about as far away from us as she could. She’s just moved
to Aberdeen where her fiance (yes, they’re also now engaged)
has recently got a spanking new job with a very nice coffee
machine I’m told. Many thanks to those of you who gave money
for her present, it went towards a model, 'The Meeting of the
Unicorns’, which is for her Myth & Magic collection.
Puppy romps are held most weeks on a Saturday morning - please
phone the office to book your place. It's a good chance for
the pups to come and have a play with other friendly dogs.
They get to interact in a safe and friendly environment and
can help prevent any future dog-dog problems. And of course
it's also a good chance for you to have a natter and socialise
too!
Congratulations to Tim and Muffin, the winners of this years “Scallywags Agility Dog of the Year”, and well done to everyone who took part. A trophy will be awarded at the end of May and updates of how people are getting on will appear in future newsletters. But PLEASE let Sandie know if you think you have some more points to add or when you have won anything.
The winter league agility matches have now finished. We
did get off to a very good start, the final points were
very close, but we still lost by the barest whisker!
Wellow won with 296 points, Southdowns had 286 points,
and we had 282 points. But we still had fun, so well
done to everyone who took part.
Some info for those of you who are new to entering
Agility Shows: Make sure you enter in plenty of time as the closing date for entering can be along way ahead of the date of the show.
UK Agility Net Well, summer must be coming. The evenings are warmer and lighter and, once again I’ve been able to enjoy a leisurely rawhide chew in the local pub’s beer garden. Now I’ve always wondered what the fascination is with beer, and the way you people dedicate entire gardens to it. A children’s garden is full of children growing and provides room for a dog to run off with their footballs. A flower garden has it’s purpose, without them I would have nowhere to hide my most precious bones. If I were a Labrador then a water garden would be a whole stream of adventures. But a beer garden? Not only do beer gardens not grow beer (which is a great shame according to my Dad) but most of the people in them don’t even drink the stuff! Another wonderful summertime doggy delight is the barbeque! Evenings full of dropped sausages, discarded plates with leftovers on (chicken skins are the best I think) and potato salad bowls left on the GSD height coffee table. But my favourite thing about summer is a Mr. Whippy 99 (without the flake obviously). Having gone round the park, sorted the ducks out and chased a few squirrels, I can think of nothing better than lying by the park bench eating a Mr. Whippy, while pondering the meaning of today’s smells. (Editor’s note: Barbeque’s can be dangerous for dogs. Discarded bones from chicken wings and pork chops can splinter when eaten by a dog. These can perforate the dogs intestines. And, never forget, chocolate is poisonous to your dog.)
